SKIES | Blue Phenomena Subset
A PROGRESSION in my SKIES paintings came in early 2023 when I was inspired to create a larger series than ordinary (16 images) of the same setting changing. Rather than depicting the passage of time at one-hour intervals, like I'd been doing previously, I was pushed to shorten the time frame down to minutes, and just name them #1, 2, 3 etc. Curiously, I was never inspired with a location for these, so they're simply been named, "Blue Phenomena Above An Undisclosed Location." In hindsight, I see these as being "practices" to prepare for the subsequent series, "Above Lahaina, Maui" and "Above Ground Zero" in which the time frames are reduced to seconds. Like all my SKIES, these are multimedia painting and photography combined on silver metal prints, in editions of five each, at sizes ranging from 11" X 14" up to 60" X 84".
